2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Sheriff Robert Crow on his |
4 | | 29 years with the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) |
5 | | Program; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. is a substance abuse prevention |
7 | | education program that was founded in Los Angeles in 1983; the |
8 | | Program offers a series of police officer-led classroom lessons |
9 | | for children from kindergarten though 12th grade on how to |
10 | | resist peer pressure and live productive drug-free and |
11 | | violence-free lives; and

12 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff Crow was hired as a patrol officer for the |
13 | | City of McLeansboro in 1988; he became the Chief of Police in |
14 | | October of that same year; In December 2014, he became Sheriff |
15 | | of Hamilton County; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff Crow attended D.A.R.E. training in 1989; |
17 | | upon completion of training, he returned to Hamilton County and |
18 | | began teaching ten-week sessions to the sixth graders at East |
19 | | Side Grade School, and then in 2015 at Dahlgren Grade School as |
20 | | well; he teaches for an hour each time on a variety of topics, |
21 | | including resisting drugs, bullying, and abuse of |
22 | | over-the-counter medication; and
