2 | WHEREAS, As leader of the most powerful nation in the world | ||||||
3 | the
President of the United States must possess the physical | ||||||
4 | and
mental stability to properly serve and lead the greatest | ||||||
5 | nation
on earth; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, The president should be able to respond to | ||||||
7 | opposition
with dignity and composure worthy of the office; the | ||||||
8 | president
should not resort to insulting and name-calling those | ||||||
9 | who
disagree with him or her; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, The safety of the American people should at all | ||||||
11 | times
be top priority; the president should not impulsively | ||||||
12 | threaten
nuclear retaliation against our enemies, especially | ||||||
13 | on social
media; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, The president should always conduct his or her | ||||||
15 | self
with the highest professional and personal standards; he | ||||||
16 | or she
should not crudely boast about grabbing the genitals of | ||||||
17 | another
human being, refer to members of and veterans of our | ||||||
18 | military as
weak for experiencing post-traumatic stress | ||||||
19 | disorder, or openly
mock those with disabilities; and | ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, America is meant to be a beacon of hope and | ||||||
21 | opportunity
for those seeking a better life; the president |

1 | should not refer
to immigrants and to other countries in | ||||||
2 | derogatory terms which
only serves to weaken our international | ||||||
3 | relationships; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, The president should take a strong and clear | ||||||
5 | stance
against racism and discrimination of any kind; he or she | ||||||
6 | should
not sympathize with white nationalists or any other | ||||||
7 | group or
ideology that attempts to devalue and degrade the | ||||||
8 | lives of
millions of American citizens; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Before voting for the highest office in the land
| ||||||
10 | Americans have a right to know whether an individual has the
| ||||||
11 | physical and mental fitness to serve as President of the United
| ||||||
12 | States; therefore, be it
| ||||||
13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
14 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the | ||||||
15 | American people
deserve to know they have a leader with the | ||||||
16 | physical and mental
stamina necessary to effectively and | ||||||
17 | honorably serve as
President of the United States; and be it | ||||||
18 | further | ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, That to preserve the integrity of the office of | ||||||
20 | President
of the United States all presidential nominees should | ||||||
21 | be
required to undergo a standardized medical examination | ||||||
22 | including a mental health evaluation, and to publicly disclose

2 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
