2 | | WHEREAS, For the second consecutive year, the St. Charles |
3 | | North High School Mock Trial Team placed first in the 2018 |
4 | | Illinois State Bar Association Mock Trial tournament held in |
5 | | Champaign on March 24 and 25, 2018; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, The reigning state champions beat 42 other teams |
7 | | to secure their third state title in five years; this is the |
8 | | sixth straight time the team has finished in second place or |
9 | | higher; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, During the tournament, teams had to present both |
11 | | sides of a civil case and were judged on their presentation |
12 | | skills, the quality of their arguments, their knowledge of the |
13 | | law, and their ability to adapt during the trial; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Members of the team include Patrick Brady, |
15 | | Brittany Cicinelli, Vanshika Dixit, Joshua Heroldt, Lizzy |
16 | | Kramer, Elena Maganini, Adam Nguyen, Deesha Patel, Ishani |
17 | | Patel, and Sanjeev Viswan; the team is coached by Janelle |
18 | | VanDeSampel and Robin Roberts, both from School District 303, |
19 | | and Patrick Crimmins, a lawyer who has coached 29 teams; and

20 | | WHEREAS, During the state tournament, senior Joshua |
21 | | Heroldt received special recognition as an outstanding |
