HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Knights of Columbus 
4Council #12173 on the occasion of its 20th anniversary on March 
526, 2018; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Knights of Columbus, comprised of male members 
7of the Roman Catholic faith, was first founded in 1882 on the 
8core principal of helping the most-needy in the community; 
9currently, there are 15,000 councils world-wide; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, St. Michael the Archangel Knights of Columbus 
11Chicago Police Council #12173 was founded on March 26, 1998 and  
12named after the acknowledged Patron Saint of Police Officers, 
13Soldiers, and Paratroopers; it is the first and only Knights of 
14Columbus council solely comprised of, and dedicated to, active 
15and retired members of law enforcement, the judiciary, and the 
16military; and
  
 
  
17    WHEREAS, Council #12173 has members that represent areas 
18including Chicago, Cook County, and over 40 suburbs; it has 
19additional members in Arizona, Florida, Nevada, Texas, and 
20Virginia; therefore, be it
  
 

  
21    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE

1HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
2congratulate Knights of Columbus Council #12173 on its 20th 
3anniversary, and we wish it many more successful years; and be

5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6presented to Knights of Columbus Council #12173 as a symbol of 
7our respect and esteem.
