| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Bruce Clark on the
| ||||||
| 4 | occasion of his retirement as Kankakee County Clerk after 32 | ||||||
| 5 | years of service; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Bruce Clark was first elected to the Office of | ||||||
| 7 | Kankakee County Clerk in 1985; he went on to
win eight | ||||||
| 8 | consecutive elections, becoming the longest-serving county | ||||||
| 9 | clerk in Illinois; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Throughout Bruce Clark's tenure, he and his staff | ||||||
| 11 | have administered over 55 elections in his
jurisdiction and | ||||||
| 12 | participated in the observation, assistance, and supervision | ||||||
| 13 | of elections in eight
counties; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, In 2014, Bruce Clark was recognized for promoting | ||||||
| 15 | voting assistance for people with
disabilities by the Options | ||||||
| 16 | Center for Independent Living; in 2015, he received the | ||||||
| 17 | Illinois Association of
County Clerks and Recorders Award and | ||||||
| 18 | was named the Illinois County Official of the Year by the | ||||||
| 19 | Illinois
Association of County Officials; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Bruce Clark's accomplishments and abilities have | ||||||
| 21 | been recognized internationally; in 2015, he
received the First | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Time Voter Project Award from the International Center for | ||||||
| 2 | Parliamentary Studies; he has served as an election observer | ||||||
| 3 | throughout Eastern Europe with the Organization for Security
| ||||||
| 4 | and Co-operation in Europe; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Bruce Clark is heavily involved in community | ||||||
| 6 | service with organizations such as the Kiwanis Club,
St. Paul's | ||||||
| 7 | Lutheran Church and School, the United Way, the Salvation Army, | ||||||
| 8 | the Helen Wheeler Center, and the
American Cancer Society; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Bruce Clark received his degree in political | ||||||
| 10 | science from the University of Kentucky; he
resides with his | ||||||
| 11 | wife in Bourbonnais and together they have three children; | ||||||
| 12 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 14 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 15 | congratulate Bruce Clark on his decades of service to the | ||||||
| 16 | people of Kankakee
County, the State of Illinois, and beyond, | ||||||
| 17 | and we admire his constant drive to serve his community and
| ||||||
| 18 | ensure the integrity of elections; and be it further
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 20 | presented to Bruce Clark as a symbol of our respect
and esteem.
