2 | | WHEREAS, It is with great sorrow that the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives learned of the passing of Officer Jaimie Cox, |
4 | | who passed away in the line of duty while serving his community |
5 | | as a member of the Rockford Police Department on November 5, |
6 | | 2017; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Officer Cox was born in Rockford, Illinois to |
8 | | James and Terry (Jenkins) Cox on August 4, 1987; he graduated |
9 | | from Hononegah High School and Northern Illinois University; |
10 | | and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Officer Cox was a proud veteran of the United |
12 | | States Army National Guard and served from 2004 until 2010; he |
13 | | was part of an Army National Guard contingent deployed to the |
14 | | Nangarhar province in Afghanistan and received many honors, |
15 | | including The Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement |
16 | | Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Illinois National |
17 | | Guard Abraham Lincoln Medal of Freedom Ribbon; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Officer Cox began his service with the Rockford |
19 | | Police Department in 2016; previously, he served with the |
20 | | Illinois Department of Natural Resources Division of Law and |
21 | | Enforcement; and
|

1 | | WHEREAS, Officer Cox never settled for just doing the job |
2 | | at hand; he never hesitated to go above and beyond if it meant |
3 | | helping his colleagues, friends, family, or innocent |
4 | | civilians; he was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and |
5 | | friend who touched the lives of all of those he met; he will be |
6 | | deeply missed; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Officer Cox was preceded in death by his mother, |
8 | | Terry; and his grandparents; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Officer Cox is survived by his loving wife, |
10 | | Caitlin; his father, Jim and (Sherry) Cox; his siblings, Sean |
11 | | and Maggie Cox; his nieces and nephews, Jaidyn, Marquis Jr., |
12 | | Isaiah, Ava, Ariia, and Christian; his many aunts, uncles, |
13 | | cousins, and friends; and his beloved dog, Ruger; therefore, be |
14 | | it
|
15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
16 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
17 | | commend Officer Jaimie Cox on a life well lived, exemplified by |
18 | | love, friendship, and a selfless duty to serve others, and we |
19 | | extend our sincere condolences to his friends, family, and all |
20 | | who knew and loved him; and be it further
