HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to celebrate the centennial birthday of 
4Ruth Robbins
on March 22, 2018; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Ruth Robbins has been an integral part of 
6Chicago's Ravenswood Manor neighborhood since moving to
the 
7community at the age of six; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Ruth Robbins began working in the 1950s as an 
9assistant to the president of the National Association of

10Broadcast Employees and Technicians (NABET); and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Ruth Robbins retired from NABET in 1992; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Ruth Robbins, accompanied by her sister Elaine, 
13traveled extensively around the world exploring
countries and 
14cultures on nearly every continent; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Ruth Robbins is renowned for her voracious reading 
16appetite, including many genres of fiction and nonfiction

17alike; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Ruth Robbins remains engaged in current events, 
19monitoring public policy issues closely even today; therefore,

2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
3HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that, with 
4a tip of our collective hats, we congratulate Ruth Robbins on 
5her 100th birthday and thank her for her contributions to the 
6State of Illinois; and be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to Ruth Robbins as an expression of our
appreciation.
