2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Timothy |
4 | | Bradford, who passed away on December 1, 2017; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Tim Bradford came from humble beginnings; a native |
6 | | of Chicago, he graduated from Crane High School, where he was |
7 | | an athlete; his family instilled in him a tenacious work ethic; |
8 | | and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Tim Bradford began his professional journey at |
10 | | Quaker Oats in a managerial position, where he stayed for 25 |
11 | | years; he later established himself as an entrepreneur with an |
12 | | interest in a Miller Beer Distributorship in St. Louis, |
13 | | Missouri; he also owned Docks Fish, a popular food franchise; |
14 | | his success in the field of sales and marketing forged his path |
15 | | as a dedicated leader in the south suburban political community |
16 | | and the Democratic Party; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Tim Bradford wanted to change the social and |
18 | | political landscape of the South Suburbs; he was first elected |
19 | | Township Committeeman in 2002, and he rose through the ranks to |
20 | | become the first Vice Chairman of the Cook County Democratic |
21 | | Party; he also served as Administrator at Rich Township; and
|

1 | | WHEREAS, Tim Bradford was elected to the Metropolitan Water |
2 | | Reclamation District Board of Commissioners in 2014 and served |
3 | | as Chairman of the Ethics and Federal Legislation Committees; |
4 | | he was also the Vice Chairman of the Maintenance and Operations |
5 | | and Monitoring and Research Committees; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Tim Bradford volunteered on the boards of numerous |
7 | | civic and business organizations, including the Rich High |
8 | | School District 227 Advisory Board, the Great Lakes Bank |
9 | | Advisory Board in Matteson, and was the President of the |
10 | | Matteson Rotary International Club; he also coached youth |
11 | | basketball for many years; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Tim Bradford served 30 years as an elected member |
13 | | of the Olympia Fields Park District Board and served three |
14 | | terms as president; he received many awards, including the |
15 | | Eagle Award for 30 years of service to the Olympia Fields Park |
16 | | District, the Hero's Award from the Village of Olympia Fields, |
17 | | and the Diversity Award from DiversityInc; the Matteson |
18 | | Business Association honored him for becoming an elected |
19 | | official; his accomplishments included fighting racial |
20 | | steering, developing affirmative marketing ordinances, helping |
21 | | local government and community-based organizations, |
22 | | encouraging people to run for office, and promoting racial |
23 | | ethnic and gender inclusiveness; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Tim Bradford was preceded in death by his son, |
2 | | Shance; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Tim Bradford is survived by his wife of more than |
4 | | 50 years, Mary Ann; his children, Cherise, Corey, and Ty; and |
5 | | his grandchildren, Bryce, Blaine, Chase, Ryder, Blake, Aiden, |
6 | | Talon, and Nya; therefore, be it

7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
8 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
9 | | mourn the passing of Timothy Bradford and extend our sincere |
10 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
11 | | him; and be it further

12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
13 | | presented to the family of Tim Bradford as an expression of our |
14 | | deepest sympathy.
