HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Ginny Bateman on the 
4occasion of her retirement as the Director of Recreation and 
5Marketing for the Oswegoland Park District; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Ginny Bateman earned a Bachelor's Degree in 
7Recreation Administration from California State University 
8Chico and began her career in Oswego in 1979 when the Park 
9District was a small rural agency with three full-time staff, 
10184 acres of parkland, and seven parks; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Ginny Bateman has been committed to her community; 
12under her guidance, the District began several flagship 
13programs, including As We Grow Preschool, Team Oswego 
14Gymnastics, and Kid's Connection; she envisioned and developed 
15the Limelight Theatre Company, which produced over 16 shows in 
162017, involved over 400 actors, and an audience of 4,000; with 
17her innovation, Oswegoland Park District introduced successful 
18community events like PrairieFest, Gobbler Hobbler 10K, I Tried 
19a Triathlon, and Monster Mash Bash; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Throughout her time at the Oswegoland Park 
21District, Ginny Bateman asked the important questions; she made 
22decisions based on the needs of the growing community; her

1attention to the residents reflects her unwavering focus on the 
2District's vision of "Creating Opportunities for a Healthy 
3Community"; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, During her career, Ginny Bateman earned a Master's 
5in Business Administration from Keller Graduate School, her 
6Certified Park and Recreation Professional Certification, and 
7her Certified Park and Recreation Executive Certification; she 
8also contributed to two campaigns certifying the Distinguished 
9Accreditation status of the Oswegoland Park District, 
10including the successful effort in 2017; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, For 38 years, Ginny Bateman demonstrated 
12exemplary public service to the many people who worked under 
13her tutelage; she leaves an agency with 52 full-time staff, 995 
14acres of parkland, 60 parks, and an immeasurable effect on 
15staff and residents alike; therefore, be it
  
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
17HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
18congratulate Ginny Bateman on her retirement as the Director of 
19Recreation and Marketing for the Oswegoland Park District and 
20we recognize her dedicated and heartfelt service; we wish her 
21the best in all of her future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
22    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
