3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Marian Elizabeth Saathoff |
4 | | Pierzynski of Aurora on the occasion of her 100th birthday; and

5 | | WHEREAS, Marian Pierzynski was born in Mount Olive during a |
6 | | snow storm on December 11, 1917; she was the seventh child of |
7 | | Sarah Fremgen and John Saathoff, a coal mine examiner; the coal |
8 | | from
the mine where her father worked is in the coal mine |
9 | | exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago; she |
10 | | had three brothers and six sisters; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Marian Pierzynski graduated from Mount Olive High |
12 | | School and worked as a waitress at the historic
Ariston Cafe, |
13 | | located in the town of Litchfield on Route 66; when she was in |
14 | | her 20s, she relocated to Chicago and lived with one of her |
15 | | sisters and secured a
clerical position at Florsheim Shoes |
16 | | downtown on Adams and Canal; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, In the 40s, Marian Pierzynski met her husband, |
18 | | Richard Pierzynski, a World War II veteran, at a square dancing |
19 | | club; they were married on July 28, 1952 and lived on the south |
20 | | side of Chicago in the Back of the Yards
neighborhood; she had |
21 | | two children, James Pierzynski and Susan Pierzynski Andrews; |
22 | | and
