2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to recognize Kim Armstrong on her |
4 | | commitment to the Peoria community and the State of Illinois; |
5 | | and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Kim Armstrong grew up in Peoria; she attended |
7 | | Manuel High School and graduated from Bradley University in |
8 | | 1980; and |
9 | | WHEREAS, Kim Armstrong's involvement with Bradley |
10 | | University includes the Alumni Center Planning Committee and |
11 | | the Greek Alumni
Council; she is a member of Chi Omega and has |
12 | | been a steadfast supporter, leader, and mentor
to many women |
13 | | attending the university; and |
14 | | WHEREAS, Kim Armstrong has been deeply involved with the |
15 | | Bradley University Speech Team; a lifelong supporter of the |
16 | | program that her father developed, she
has attended Bradley |
17 | | University Speech Team performances, helped raise funds
for |
18 | | trips, assisted in organizing the American Forensic |
19 | | Association National
Individual Events Tournament, and spent |
20 | | endless hours in her kitchen preparing
meals for hungry, and |
21 | | very appreciative, undergraduate students; and |

1 | | WHEREAS, Kim Armstrong has also volunteered with the OSF |
2 | | Healthcare Angel Ball, the Public Arts Advisory Commission, the |
3 | | Invictus
Woods Recovery Home, Sculpture Walk Peoria, and the |
4 | | Peoria
Art Guild's award-winning Fine Art Fair; when Hurricane |
5 | | Harvey hit Texas, she was there to donate blood to the Red |
6 | | Cross;
and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, In 2007, Bradley University recognized Kim |
8 | | Armstrong as a Bradley University Centurion; in 2017, the |
9 | | university awarded her the Lydia Moss Bradley Award for |
10 | | displaying outstanding service to the institution; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Kim Armstrong has always been concerned with the |
12 | | education and welfare of others, especially youth and those |
13 | | less fortunate; she is an advocate for diversity, inclusion, |
14 | | equity, and fairness; therefore, be it
|
15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
16 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
17 | | recognize Kim Armstrong on her commitment to the Peoria |
18 | | community and the State of Illinois, and we thank her for her |
19 | | efforts to make Peoria and the State of Illinois a better place |
20 | | to live; and be it further
