2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Flora Lee |
4 | | Hill, who passed away on August 9, 2017; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Flora Hill was born in Greenwood, Mississippi to |
6 | | Charlie Hill and Clara Lee Lacey on January 27, 1951; she |
7 | | graduated from Englewood Vocational High School in 1969 and |
8 | | received her nursing assistant certificate from the Chicago |
9 | | Vocational Career Center; she married Darnell Ashton in 1969; |
10 | | and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Flora Hill worked for Goldblatt's Department |
12 | | Store for over 12 years, where she enjoyed spending the |
13 | | majority of her time and money until they closed their doors; |
14 | | she later worked for Gross Pointe Manor for 34 years until |
15 | | retiring in 2017; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Flora Hill had been a member of Mt. Pisgah |
17 | | Missionary Baptist Church since 1963; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Flora Hill was preceded in death by her parents; |
19 | | and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Flora Hill is survived by her sons, Andrew Hill |

1 | | (Tanya) and Malek Umoja; her daughter-in-law, Ingrid Qualls; |
2 | | her sisters, Kiecha Lacey, Annie Pearl Washington (Michael), |
3 | | and Charlene Penny Brewer (John); Roy Hill; her grandchildren, |
4 | | Brandon L. Moss, Precious A. Glinsey (Matthew), Brittany Moss, |
5 | | Amberia Hill, Alysa A. Hill, Andre A. Hill, and Ameer M. Umoja; |
6 | | her great-grandchildren, Elijah, Deveon, Brayden, Matthew Jr. |
7 | | Babygirl Glensey, Lauryn, Ayden, and Autumn; many nieces and |
8 | | nephews, including special nieces, Tia and Endya (Mook); and |
9 | | her uncle, Dennis Dean (Avon); therefore, be it

10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
11 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
12 | | mourn the passing of Flora Lee Hill, and extend our sincere |
13 | | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
14 | | her; and be it further

15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
