2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Michael | ||||||
4 | S. Holewinski of Chicago, who passed away on June 19, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Michael Holewinski was born to Stanley and | ||||||
6 | Genevieve Holewinski on April 30, 1947; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Michael Holewinski held numerous positions | ||||||
8 | throughout the years, including toy buyer for Montgomery Ward, | ||||||
9 | pilot, Illinois legislator, attorney, administrative assistant | ||||||
10 | to Mayor Harold Washington, vice chairman of the Illinois | ||||||
11 | Gaming Board, chairman of the Illinois Manufacturers' | ||||||
12 | Association and, most significant to him, a manufacturer; he | ||||||
13 | took over the family business, the Ace Plating Company, and | ||||||
14 | continued to build his manufacturing empire with the Acme | ||||||
15 | Spinning Company, F&S Stamping, Cano Tool, Art Specialty, and | ||||||
16 | Barnes Planting; and | ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Michael Holewinski was elected to the Illinois | ||||||
18 | House of Representatives in 1974 at the age of 26 and served | ||||||
19 | for two terms; he was the founder of the 35th Ward Independent | ||||||
20 | Precinct Organization; he was a two-time recipient of the | ||||||
21 | Independent Voters of Illinois and Independent Precinct | ||||||
22 | Organization's Best Legislator Award; and

1 | WHEREAS, Michael Holewinski preferred to relax on the | ||||||
2 | beaches of South Maui and Chetek, Wisconsin; he always looked | ||||||
3 | forward to spending time with his family, the "Cousins", and | ||||||
4 | his many friends and neighbors; he was a political junkie who | ||||||
5 | relished a good debate; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Michael Holewinski was preceded in death by his | ||||||
7 | parents and his daughter, Annie; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Michael Holewinski is survived by his wife of 53 | ||||||
9 | years, Mary (Plaza); his son, Jeff (Jamie); his sister, Joyce | ||||||
10 | (Jim) Walschlager; his sister-in-law, Jennie (Tony) | ||||||
11 | Fontanetta; his brothers-in-law, Joe (Emilie) Plaza and Rich | ||||||
12 | (Sharie) Plaza; and many nephews, nieces, and great-nieces; | ||||||
13 | therefore, be it

14 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
15 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
16 | mourn the passing of Michael S. Holewinski, and extend our | ||||||
17 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
18 | and loved him; and be it further

19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | presented to the family of Michael Holewinski as an expression | ||||||
21 | of our deepest sympathy.
