HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize  the 67th anniversary of the 
4founding of Dave's Supermarket; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Dave and Emma Lou "Emmy" Steffen founded Dave's 
6Supermarket in 1950 in Fairbury and has been serving the 
7community ever since; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Dave's Supermarket is a true family business; Dave 
9and Emmy's children, Vicki, Alan, Mark, and Brian are all 
10actively involved with the business; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, After 67 years, customer service is still of the 
12utmost importance to Dave's Supermarket and it maintains the 
13practice of having employees carry out groceries to its 
14customer's cars, a practice that most grocery stores have done 
15away with; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, The deli, bakery, and sit-down area has become a 
17popular meeting place for seniors; in addition, the store hosts 
18nutritional seminars for customers and employees; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Dave's Supermarket often serves as the first job 
20for local teens as they enter the workforce; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
2HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3recognize  the 67th anniversary of the founding of Dave's 
4Supermarket and we wish them many more successful years; and be 
5it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to Dave's Supermarket as a symbol of our respect and 
8esteem.
