2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to recognize Donald Jackson on over 20 |
4 | | years as President of the Peoria Branch of the NAACP; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Donald Jackson entered law school at the |
6 | | University of Illinois in 1971; he was admitted to the bar in |
7 | | 1974 while working as a field attorney for the National Labor |
8 | | Relations Board; he was hired by Bradley University as a |
9 | | part-time instructor, teaching the principals of collective |
10 | | bargaining; and |
11 | | WHEREAS, Donald Jackson entered private practice in 1975; |
12 | | he also joined the staff of the Peoria County Public Defender; |
13 | | his downtown-Peoria practice specializes in race, sex, |
14 | | retaliation, hostile work environment, and disability |
15 | | discrimination; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Donald Jackson has been a guest lecturer at |
17 | | seminars conducted by the Illinois Department of Human Rights, |
18 | | the Public Employees Association, and
other similar |
19 | | organizations; and |
20 | | WHEREAS, Donald Jackson currently serves as a Hearing |
21 | | Officer for the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary |

of the Supreme Court of Illinois; and |
2 | | WHEREAS, For the past 20 years Donald Jackson has
served as |
3 | | the President of the Peoria Branch of the NAACP; in 2003, he |
4 | | was elected President of the
Illinois State Conference of the |
5 | | NAACP, serving from 2004 to 2011; he is a past President of the |
6 | | Region III Leadership Team; under his leadership, the Peoria |
7 | | NAACP took on environmental and healthcare issues in addition |
8 | | to its traditional concerns of employment, education, and |
9 | | voting rights; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Donald Jackson is married to Ernestine (Humes) |
11 | | Jackson, and they have three sons, Donald R.
Jackson Jr., Dale |
12 | | R. Jackson, and Derick R. Jackson; he and his wife have two |
13 | | granddaughters, Desirae R. Jackson and Sofia Puffer-Jackson, |
14 | | one grandson, Lewyn Puffer-Jackson, and one great-grandson, |
15 | | Kaidyn Amir Jackson; therefore, be it

16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
17 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
18 | | recognize Donald Jackson on over 20 years as President of the |
19 | | Peoria Branch of the NAACP and wish him many more successful |
20 | | years; and be it further
