2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Suzan Nash on her |
4 | | retirement from Community Action after 38 years of service; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Suzan Nash started with the Western Illinois |
6 | | Regional Council as an intern in 1978 and has dedicated her |
7 | | life to fighting the war on poverty and meeting the
needs of |
8 | | the less fortunate; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Suzan Nash became the first female director of a |
10 | | regional planning agency in Illinois in
1981 when she assumed |
11 | | the leadership of the Western Illinois Regional Council; and |
12 | | WHEREAS, Suzan Nash established the Western Illinois |
13 | | Regional Council as a Community Action
Agency in 1982; and |
14 | | WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Suzan Nash, the Western |
15 | | Illinois Regional Council established the
Victim Services |
16 | | Program, providing free and confidential services in a safe |
17 | | environment for survivors of domestic violence and sexual |
18 | | assault in Hancock, Henderson, McDonough, and Warren Counties; |
19 | | and |
20 | | WHEREAS, Suzan Nash has served on the boards of the |

1 | | Illinois Association of Regional Councils and the National |
2 | | Association of Development Organizations Midwest Region; she |
3 | | served on the Board of the Illinois
Association of Community |
4 | | Action Agencies for over 10 years, most recently
serving as |
5 | | vice-chair; and

6 | | WHEREAS, Suzan Nash has been an active member of her |
7 | | community; she served as a Radio
Information Services reader, a |
8 | | Youth Assistance Program founding board member, a Quality of |
9 | | Life
committee member, YMCA president and board member, a |
10 | | McDonough County United Way
volunteer and campaign chair, and |
11 | | as the finance chair at St. Paul Parish; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Suzan Nash has received the Macomb Feminists |
13 | | Network "Writing Women into
History Award", and the Western |
14 | | Illinois University Department of Parks, Recreation and |
15 | | Tourism
Distinguished Alumni Award in 1990; therefore, be it
|
16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
17 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
18 | | congratulate Suzan Nash on her retirement from Community Action |
19 | | after 38 years of service and we wish her well in her |
20 | | retirement and with all future endeavors; and be it further

21 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
