sugars, and plant-based additives such as guarana, |
4 | | ginseng, and
taurine; and

5 | | WHEREAS, Taurine, guarana, and ginseng are all found
|
6 | | naturally in various food products such as seafood, grains,
|
7 | | poultry, and plants; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, The United States Food and Drug Administration and |
9 | | the U.S.
Federal Trade Commission both fully regulate the |
10 | | ingredients and
labeling of energy drinks, as well as oversee |
11 | | advertising of
energy drinks; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, A 16 fluid ounce energy drink contains half the
|
13 | | caffeine of a same size coffeehouse coffee; and |
14 | | WHEREAS, Energy drinks are not marketed or sold in any K-12
|
15 | | schools; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, More regulations on energy drinks would |
17 | | negatively
affect many citizens in the State of Illinois; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, The decrease in demand for energy drinks as a
|
19 | | result of regulations would lead to job loss among delivery
|
