2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of The |
4 | | Honorable Michael J. Henshaw of Harrisburg, who passed away on |
5 | | March 22, 2017; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Michael Henshaw was born in Harrisburg to A.J. and |
7 | | Morean Elms Henshaw on November 21, 1944; he graduated from |
8 | | Carrier Mills High School in 1963 and Southeastern Illinois |
9 | | College in 1965; he earned his Bachelor of Arts from Southern |
10 | | Illinois University in Carbondale in 1967; he earned his Juris |
11 | | Doctorate from the Chicago Kent College of Law in 1971 and was |
12 | | admitted to the Illinois Bar the same year; he married Lavon |
13 | | Tanner on November 25, 1995; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Michael Henshaw was elected as Saline County |
15 | | State's Attorney in 1972 and served through 1976; he then went |
16 | | into private practice for two years before becoming the Circuit |
17 | | Court Judge for Saline County in 1978; he served through 1998 |
18 | | and became the Chief Judge of the First Judicial Circuit until |
19 | | his retirement in November of 2006; in 2008, he was again |
20 | | elected Saline County State's Attorney and held that position |
21 | | until his death; and
|
22 | | WHEREAS, Michael Henshaw attended the First United |
|

1 | | Methodist Church in Harrisburg; and
|
2 | | WHEREAS, Michael Henshaw was preceded in death by his |
3 | | parents; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Michael Henshaw is survived by his wife, Lavon; |
5 | | his sons, Brad (Verlinda) Henshaw, Jarrod (Sarah) Henshaw, and |
6 | | Todd Stevens (Alexa Merritt); his daughter, Sarah (Walter) |
7 | | Powell; his grandchildren, Whitney Henshaw, Anneliese and |
8 | | Mitchell Henshaw, and Morgan and Alexa Powell; his brother, |
9 | | Harry Henshaw, and children, Rebecca and Aaron; his brother, |
10 | | Brent Henshaw; his nephew, Darrick Sandifer; his beloved |
11 | | friend, Luka Djedovic; and his beloved pet, Gracie; therefore, |
12 | | be it

13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
14 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
15 | | mourn the passing of Michael J. Henshaw, and extend our sincere |
16 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
17 | | him; and be it further

18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to the family of Michael Henshaw as an expression of |
20 | | our deepest sympathy.
