HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Dr. Tim Bellamey on the 
4occasion of his retirement as President of Shawnee Community 
5College (SCC) on April 30, 2017; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Dr. Bellamey began his career at SCC  as an adjunct 
7instructor in history
and government in 1982; he has been a 
8full-time employee since 1985; he held several
administrative 
9positions prior to being named Vice-President of Instructional 
10Services in 2005; he became the college's seventh President in 
11August of 2012; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Bellamey's focus has been on increasing 
13student success, growth of the
college's career and technical 
14education programs, and building partnerships with regional

15community colleges and universities; under his leadership, the 
16college received a 10-year
extension of its accreditation in 
172014; during his tenure, the college completed construction of 
18a
new career and technical education center on the main campus 
19in Ullin; he also initiated the
transition to a new enterprise 
20system to facilitate improved instructional, student services, 
21and
business operations of the college; and
  
 

  
22    WHEREAS, Dr. Bellamey and his wife, Penny, reside in

1Metropolis; they have a son, Alex, and a daughter, Grace; 
2therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
4HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
5congratulate Dr. Tim Bellamey on his retirement as President of 
6Shawnee Community College, and we wish him the best in all his 
7future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to Dr. Bellamey as an expression of our esteem and 
10respect.
