HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of

3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Theresa 
4A.
Cockrell, who passed away on February 9, 2017; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Theresa Cockrell was a lifelong resident of

6Downers Grove; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Theresa Cockrell dedicated over 35 years of her

8life to Downers Grove Township, serving first as a clerk and 
9then being
appointed to the position of assessor in 1983; she 
10was elected to the position in 1985 and re-elected in 1989, 
111993, 1997, 2001, 2005, 2009, and 2013; and
  
 
  
12    WHEREAS, Theresa Cockrell was a member of the
International 
13Association of Assessing Officials and a past
President of the 
14DuPage County Assessors Association; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Theresa Cockrell lived a full life filled with
her 
16interests in history, writing, art, reading, antiquing,

17gardening, and her three pets, Dover, Sadie, and Tweak; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Theresa Cockrell was the daughter of Helen and
the 
19late John Cockrell; the sister of Susan Sheldon and Janis

20(James) Gorski; the aunt of Amanda (Mark) Roe, Amber (Collin)

1Verbick, and Daniel and Emily Gorski; and the great-aunt of

2Evelyn and Miles Roe, and Coral Verbick; all who will remember

3her will deeply miss her; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
5HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6mourn the passing of Theresa A. Cockrell, and extend our 
7sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew 
8and loved her; and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the family of Theresa Cockrell as an expression of 
11our deepest sympathy.
