2 | | WHEREAS, The cost of prescription drugs has become |
3 | | prohibitive for many people in the United States; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, The cost of prescription drugs continues to climb |
5 | | in the United States; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, People who cannot afford the high cost of |
7 | | prescription drugs may have to make the difficult decision to |
8 | | forgo purchasing their medications in order to put food on |
9 | | their dinner table or to pay for their housing; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, The profits of the pharmaceutical companies |
11 | | already measures in the billions and continues to rise; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, The federal government has been able to use its |
13 | | purchasing power to reduce the price of prescription drugs |
14 | | through the Veterans Administration system; therefore, be it
|
15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
16 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
17 | | urge the federal government to monitor the ever-increasing |
18 | | costs of prescription drugs and to take any necessary action to |
19 | | reduce the out-of-pocket expenses for those purchasing |
20 | | medications; and be it further
