HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, According to Dysautonomia International, 
3Dysautonomia is an umbrella term used to
describe several 
4different medical conditions that cause a malfunction of the 
5Autonomic Nervous
System (ANS); and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The ANS is responsible for controlling the 
7"automatic" functions of the human body,
including, but not 
8limited to, heart rate, blood pressure, and kidney function; 
9and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Various types of Dysautonomia result in the 
11inability of the body to regulate these systems
which may lead 
12to lightheadedness, fainting, unstable blood pressure, 
13abnormal heart rates,
malnutrition, and even in some cases 
14death; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Over 70 million people worldwide of all ages, 
16gender, and race have some type of
Dysautonomia; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, There is no known cure for Dysautonomia, but 
18various groups
including Dysautonomia International continue 
19to fund research in the hopes of finding a cure and
treatment 
20for each type of Dysautonomia; and

1    WHEREAS, Most patients living with Dysautonomia wait years 
2before being diagnosed; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
4HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
5designate October of 2017 as "Dysautonomia Awareness Month" in 
6the State
of Illinois; and be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
8presented to Governor Bruce Rauner, all Illinois 
9constitutional officers, and Ashley Crossett of Frankfort and 
10her family in appreciation of their commitment to raising 
11awareness for
Dysautonomia in Illinois.
