2 | | WHEREAS, Greywater is gently used water from one's |
3 | | bathroom, sinks, showers, tubs, and washing machines; it may |
4 | | contain traces of dirt, food, grease, hair, and certain |
5 | | household cleaning products; it is not water that has come into |
6 | | contact with feces; it may look "dirty", but it is a safe, even |
7 | | beneficial source of irrigation water; and

8 | | WHEREAS, If greywater is released into rivers, lakes, or |
9 | | estuaries, it becomes a pollutant, but to plants, it is a |
10 | | valuable fertilizer; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Reusing greywater saves water and money on one's |
12 | | water bill; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Reusing greywater keeps it out of the sewer or |
14 | | septic system, thereby reducing the chance that it will pollute |
15 | | local bodies of water; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Reusing greywater is a way to increase the |
17 | | productivity of sustainable backyard ecosystems that produce |
18 | | food, clean water, and shelter wildlife; therefore, be it
|
19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
20 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE SENATE |
