2 | | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General
|
3 | | Assembly pays honor and respect to individuals who gave their
|
4 | | lives in service to their communities; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Dana Schoolman was a volunteer firefighter with |
6 | | the Ashkum Township
Fire Protection District for six years; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Dana Schoolman also served as an emergency medical |
8 | | technician with the Ash-Clif Ambulance Service; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, On November 6, 1988, Dana Schoolman was fatally |
10 | | injured in the line of
duty; at approximately 8:00 am, he |
11 | | responded to a medical emergency call in his personal
vehicle; |
12 | | he lost control on the ice and snow covered roadway near the |
13 | | intersection of US Route 45 and Iroquois
County Road 2400 North |
14 | | and died from injuries sustained in the accident; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Dana Schoolman was 31 years of age; he was |
16 | | survived by his wife and two children; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Dana Schoolman was honored at the National Fallen |
18 | | Firefighters Memorial in
Emmitsburg, Maryland in 1989 and at |
19 | | the Illinois Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Springfield; |
