Amends the Chicago School District Article of the School Code. Provides that, each fiscal year, the school board must expend a minimum of $500,000 on grants for training parents or guardians of students in the school district on the individualized education program process. Requires the training to include a description of the parent's or guardian's rights during the individualized education program process and must engage the parent or guardian in the process. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
5 | | 34-18.60 as follows: |
6 | | (105 ILCS 5/34-18.60 new) |
7 | | Sec. 34-18.60. Individualized education program training; |
8 | | grants. Each fiscal year, the board must expend a minimum of |
9 | | $500,000 on grants for training parents or guardians of |
10 | | students in the school district on the individualized education |
11 | | program process. This training must include a description of |
12 | | the parent's or guardian's rights during the individualized |
13 | | education program process and must engage the parent or |
14 | | guardian in the process.

15 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
16 | | becoming law.
