1 | | AN ACT concerning criminal law.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Criminal Code of 2012 is amended by changing |
5 | | Section 12-3.5 as follows:
|
6 | | (720 ILCS 5/12-3.5)

7 | | Sec. 12-3.5. Interfering with the reporting of domestic |
8 | | violence.

9 | | (a) A person commits interfering with the reporting of
|
10 | | domestic violence when, after having committed an act of |
11 | | domestic violence, he
or she knowingly prevents or attempts to |
12 | | prevent the victim of or a witness to the act of
domestic |
13 | | violence from calling a 9-1-1 emergency telephone system, |
14 | | obtaining
medical assistance, or making a report to any law |
15 | | enforcement official.

16 | | (b) In For the purposes of this Section:
|
17 | | "Domestic violence" shall have the meaning ascribed to it |
18 | | in Section
112A-3 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963.

19 | | (c) Sentence. Interfering with the reporting of domestic |
20 | | violence is a
