Amends the General Assembly Compensation Act. Provides that any increase in the salary of General Assembly members shall require a vote of three-fifths of the members elected to each house. Amends the Compensation Review Act. Provides that the annual increase in salary for members of the General Assembly based upon a cost of living adjustment shall no longer be in effect.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The General Assembly Compensation Act is amended |
5 | | by adding Section 5 as follows: |
6 | | (25 ILCS 115/5 new) |
7 | | Sec. 5. Salary increase vote. Any increase in the salary of |
8 | | General Assembly members shall require a vote of three-fifths |
9 | | of the members elected to each house.

10 | | Section 10. The Compensation Review Act is amended by |
11 | | adding Section 7 as follows: |
12 | | (25 ILCS 120/7 new) |
13 | | Sec. 7. Discontinuation of annual salary increase. The |
14 | | annual increase in salary for members of the General Assembly |
15 | | based upon a cost of living adjustment, as authorized by |
16 | | motions 15 and 16 of the report of the former Compensation |
17 | | Review Board, dated April 25, 1990, as adopted by Senate Joint |
18 | | Resolution 192 of the 86th General Assembly, shall no longer be |
19 | | in effect. Any increase in the salary of General Assembly |
20 | | members on or after the effective date of this amendatory Act |
21 | | of the 100th General Assembly shall be provided by a vote of |
