AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3717 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3717 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 
4    "Section 5. The Statute on Statutes is amended by adding 
5Section 1.43 as follows:
 
6    (5 ILCS 70/1.43 new)
7    Sec. 1.43. Monetary bail. Whenever there is a  reference to 
8monetary bail or bail, that reference shall be interpreted to 
9be applicable to the circumstances specifically enumerated in 
10Section 110-1.5 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963.
 
11    Section 10. The Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 is 
12amended  by adding Section 110-1.5 as follows:
 
13    (725 ILCS 5/110-1.5 new)
14    Sec. 110-1.5. Abolishment of monetary bail. Under this

1amendatory Act of the 100th General Assembly, the requirement 
2of posting monetary bail is abolished, except as provided in 
3the Uniform Extradition Act which is a compact that has been 
4entered between this State and its sister states and for a 
5person charged with a crime of violence as defined in Section 3 
6of the Rights of Crime Victims and Witnesses Act.".
