Amends the Public Water District Act. Provides that a general manager of a public water district may be discharged at a meeting of the board of trustees upon a majority vote of the members present (currently, by a unanimous vote of the board of trustees). Effective immediately.

1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Public Water District Act is amended by |
5 | | changing Section 7 as follows:
|
6 | | (70 ILCS 3705/7) (from Ch. 111 2/3, par. 194)

7 | | Sec. 7.
The board of trustees may appoint a general manager |
8 | | to serve
a term of five years and until his successor is |
9 | | appointed, and his
compensation shall be fixed by resolution of |
10 | | the board. Such general
manager shall devote his time |
11 | | exclusively to the affairs of the
district, and shall have |
12 | | power to employ, discharge and fix the
compensation of all |
13 | | employees of the district, except as in this Act
otherwise |
14 | | provided, and he shall perform and exercise such other powers
|
15 | | and duties as may be conferred upon him by the Board of |
16 | | Trustees.

17 | | Such general manager shall be chosen without regard to his |
18 | | political
affiliation and upon the sole basis of his |
19 | | administrative and technical
qualifications to manage the |
20 | | waterworks properties and affairs of the
district, and he may |
21 | | be discharged at a meeting of the board of trustees only upon a |
22 | | majority vote of the members present unanimous vote of the |
23 | | board
of trustees . Such general manager need not be a resident |
