| 2 | | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2461 on page 5, |
| 3 | | immediately below line 10, by inserting the following:

| 4 | | "As used in this paragraph (2): |
| 5 | | "Advanced academic program" means a course of study to |
| 6 | | which students are assigned based on advanced cognitive ability |
| 7 | | or advanced academic achievement compared to local age peers |
| 8 | | and in which the curriculum is substantially differentiated |
| 9 | | from the general curriculum to provide appropriate challenge |
| 10 | | and pace. |
| 11 | | "Gifted education" means educational services, including |
| 12 | | differentiated curricula and instructional methods, designed |
| 13 | | to meet the needs of gifted children as defined in Article 14A |
| 14 | | of this Code.".
