Amends the General Assembly Organization Act. Provides that if a bill is passed unanimously by one legislative chamber, then the other legislative chamber shall conduct a public hearing on the bill and it shall receive a record vote within 3 session days.

1 | | AN ACT concerning State government.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The General Assembly Organization Act is amended |
5 | | by adding Section 3.3 as follows: |
6 | | (25 ILCS 5/3.3 new) |
7 | | Sec. 3.3. Required consideration of unanimously passed |
8 | | bills. |
9 | | (a) If a bill passes the House of Representatives |
10 | | unanimously, then the Senate shall conduct a public hearing on |
11 | | the bill and it shall receive a record vote within 3 Senate |
12 | | session days after the day the bill is unanimously passed by |
13 | | the House of Representatives. |
14 | | (b) If a bill passes the Senate unanimously, then the House |
15 | | of Representatives shall conduct a public hearing on the bill |
16 | | and it shall receive a record vote within 3 House session days |
17 | | after the day the bill is unanimously passed by the Senate.
