1 | | (3.5) If the vacancy in the office of President of the Cook |
2 | | County Board occurs on or after the first day provided in |
3 | | Section 7-12 for filing nomination papers for the primary in |
4 | | the next even-numbered year following the commencement of the |
5 | | term, a vacancy in nomination shall be deemed to have occurred |
6 | | and the county central committee of each established political |
7 | | party shall nominate, by resolution, a candidate to fill such |
8 | | vacancy in nomination for the election to such office at such |
9 | | general election. In the nomination proceedings to fill such |
10 | | vacancy in nomination, each member of the county central |
11 | | committee shall have the voting strength as set forth in |
12 | | Section 7-8. The office shall not appear on the ballot at the |
13 | | general primary election. Any vacancy in nomination occurring |
14 | | on or after the primary and prior to certification must be |
15 | | filled prior to the date of certification. Any vacancy in |
16 | | nomination occurring after certification but prior to 15 days |
17 | | before the general election shall be filled within 8 days after |
18 | | the event creating the vacancy in nomination.

19 | | (4) The resolution to fill the vacancy shall be duly |
20 | | acknowledged before
an officer qualified to take |
21 | | acknowledgments of deeds and shall include,
upon its face, the |
22 | | following information:

23 | | (a) the name of the original nominee and the office |
24 | | vacated;
|
25 | | (b) the date on which the vacancy occurred;
|
26 | | (c) the name and address of the nominee selected to fill |

1 | | the vacancy and
the date of selection.

2 | | The resolution to fill the vacancy shall be accompanied by |
3 | | a Statement of
Candidacy, as prescribed in Section 7-10, |
4 | | completed by the selected nominee
and a receipt indicating that |
5 | | such nominee has filed a Statement of
Economic Interests as |
6 | | required by the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act.

7 | | The provisions of Sections 10-8 through 10-10.1 relating to |
8 | | objections to
nomination papers, hearings on objections and |
9 | | judicial review, shall also
apply to and govern objections to |
10 | | nomination papers and resolutions for
filling vacancies in |
11 | | nomination filed pursuant to this Section.

12 | | Unless otherwise specified herein, the nomination and |
13 | | election provided
for in this Section shall be governed by this |
14 | | Code.

10 | | the remainder of the term board of
commissioners shall elect |
