AN ACT concerning education.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section 2-3.137 as follows:

(105 ILCS 5/2-3.137 new)

Sec. 2-3.137. School health recognition program. The State Board of Education shall establish a school health recognition program that:

(1) publicly identifies those schools that have implemented programs to increase the level of physical activity of their students;

(2) publicly identifies those schools that have adopted policies or implemented programs to promote healthy nutritional choices for their students; and

(3) allows recognized schools to share best practices and model services with other schools throughout the State.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
