AN ACT concerning local government.
|
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
represented in the General Assembly:
|
Section 5. The Fire Protection District Act is amended by |
changing Section 16.08b as follows:
|

Sec. 16.08b. Emergency medical technician licensure; |
training. |
(a) The board of trustees of a fire protection district |
may require that all firefighters hired on or after January 1, |
2005 (the effective date of Public Act 93-952) by any fire |
department within the district to must be licensed as an EMT, |
EMT-I, A-EMT, or paramedic under the Emergency Medical |
Services (EMS) Systems Act.

(b) The board of trustees of a fire protection district |
must, subject to appropriation by the General Assembly, |
reimburse the mandatory training expenses of an EMT, EMT-I, |
A-EMT, or paramedic employed by or under contract with the |
fire protection district, including the training expenses of a |
firefighter required to be licensed as an EMT, EMT-I, A-EMT, |
or paramedic under subsection (a). |
