    AN ACT concerning education.
  
 
    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
 
represented in the General Assembly:
  
 
 
    Section 5. The School Code is amended  by adding Section 
2-3.176 as follows:
 
    (105 ILCS 5/2-3.176 new)
    Sec. 2-3.176. Work-based learning database.
    (a) In this Section, "work-based learning" means an 
educational strategy that provides students with real-life 
work experiences in which they can apply academic and technical 
skills and develop their employability.
    (b) The State Board must develop a work-based learning 
database to help facilitate relationships between school 
districts and businesses and expand work-based learning in this 
State. 
 
 
    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
becoming law.
