Sec. 6z-95. The Housing for Families Fund; creation. The Housing for Families Fund is created as a special fund in the State treasury. Moneys in the Fund shall be used by the Department of Human Services to make grants to public or private not-for-profit entities for the purpose of building new housing for low income, working poor, low credit, and no credit families and families with disabilities. For the purposes of this Section, "low income", "working poor", "families with disabilities", "low credit", and "no credit families" shall be defined by the Department of Human Services by rule. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary and in addition to any other transfers that may be provided by law, on June 30, 2026, or as soon thereafter as practical, the State Comptroller shall direct and the State Treasurer shall transfer the remaining balance from the Housing for Families Fund into the Homelessness Prevention Revenue Fund. Upon completion of the transfer, the Housing for Families Fund is dissolved, and any future deposits due to that Fund and any outstanding obligations or liabilities of that Fund pass to the Homelessness Prevention Revenue Fund.
