(20 ILCS 505/6.5) Sec. 6.5. Children; methamphetamine; protocol. (a) The Department of Children and Family Services, the Department of State Police, and the State Board of Education shall jointly develop a sample protocol to be followed by the Department of Children and Family Services, the Department of State Police or a local law enforcement agency, or a school when: (1) a person or persons are arrested for manufacturing methamphetamine at a place where |
| a child under 18 years of age resides; or
|
|
(2) the Department of Children and Family Services, the Department of State Police or a
|
| local law enforcement agency, or a school has reason to believe that a child under 18 years of age is being exposed to an environment where methamphetamine is manufactured or used.
|
|
(b) At a minimum, the protocol developed under this Section must do the following:
(1) Provide for an appropriate custodian of the affected child.
(2) Provide for the necessary care and supervision of the affected child, including
|
| appropriate shelter, clothing, food, and medical care.
|
|
(3) Provide for the child's attendance at an appropriate school.
(c) The Department of Children and Family Services, the Department of State Police, and the State Board of Education must develop the protocol by January 1, 2006.
(d) The Department of Children and Family Services must post the protocol on the official Web site maintained by the Department.
