HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize John Conrad on the occasion 
4of his serving the people of the City of Columbia, Monroe 
5County, and Illinois for the past 50 years; and
 
6    WHEREAS, John Conrad has served on the board of directors 
7of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce for 50 years, working hard 
8to support local businesses and business owners; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Conrad has shown his dedication to the 
10community of Columbia through membership in many other local 
11organizations, including Columbia's July 4th Committee, the 
12Columbia Lions Club, the City of Columbia PLAY Commission, the 
13U.S.S. Columbia Submarine Launch and Commissioning Community, 
14the Columbia Sesquicentennial Celebration Committee in 2009, 
15and the Sister Cities of Columbia; and
 
16    WHEREAS, John Conrad has also served in numerous civic 
17organizations, including the Boy Scouts, the U.S. Army 
18Reserves, Human Support Services, the Southwestern Illinois 
19Flood Prevention District Council, the Monroe County Local 
20Emergency Planning Committee, the Monroe County Board of 
21Appeals, the Monroe County YMCA Capital Campaign, and the SIU 
22Edwardsville Alumni Board; and

1    WHEREAS, Over the course of his career, John Conrad has 
2been the recipient of multiple awards, including the Pillar of 
3the Community award in 1996 and being named the Missouri 
4Athletic Club Sportsman of the Year in 2017; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
6HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
7we recognize John Conrad for his service to the people of the 
8City of Columbia, Monroe County, and Illinois for the past 50 
9years; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
11presented to John Conrad and the Columbia Chamber of Commerce 
12as an expression of our esteem and respect.
