HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Collyn Forbis, a seventh 
4grader at Western Junior High School in Kinderhook, on placing 
5first in the 1600m at the 2023 Illinois Elementary School 
6Association (IESA) Class 2A 7th Grade State Track and Field 
7Meet, setting a new state record in the process; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Through his first place finish in the 1600m, 
9Collyn Forbis broke both his personal record and the state 
10record with a time  of 4 minutes and 57 seconds; he did not lose 
11a single 1600m race the entire season,  and he improved his time 
12by a full minute compared to his results from the previous 
13year; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Collyn Forbis additionally broke his personal 
15record in the 800m while placing second at the IESA 2A 7th 
16Grade State Track & Field Meet, achieving a 20-second 
17improvement from his best time last year; overall, he won six 
18of eight 800m races on his way to placing first in the 800m at 
19the IESA 2A 7th Grade Sectional Track & Field Meet; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Collyn Forbis also ran the 100m and the 4x100m 
21relay while participating in shot put and discus field events;

1    WHEREAS, Collyn Forbis is the son of Josh and Krista 
2Forbis; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
4HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
5we congratulate Collyn Forbis on his accomplishments at the 
62023 Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) Class 2A 
77th Grade State Track and Field Meet, and we wish him continued 
8success in the future; and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to Collyn Forbis as an expression of our esteem and 
11respect.
