HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Westville Junior High School softball team, the Wildcats, on winning the 2025 IESA Class 2A state championship; and

WHEREAS, The Wildcats won two games on September 20, 2025, defeating Calhoun High School (Hardin) in their final contest by a score of 7 to 3 to secure their championship; and

WHEREAS, The Wildcats finished their season with a perfect record of 25 wins and zero losses; and

WHEREAS, The Wildcats' record over the last two seasons of IESA play is 44 and 1; and

WHEREAS, The Wildcats are led by coaches Matt Darling and Ed Barney; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Wildcats are Reese Michelin, Trinity McGehee, Denim Zaayer, Aria Beninato, Rhyla Strange, Dannalee Lutchka, Maddie Herrin, Autumn McDaniel, Danica Fox, Ella Douglas, Kinley Barney, Harper Eldridge, Krislen Cook, Riley Barnes, Bella Taflinger, and Lilly Pabst; and

WHEREAS, The Wildcats were welcomed home with a Westville police and fire department escort, along with honking horns and cheering fans; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Westville Junior High School softball team, the Wildcats, on winning the 2025 IESA Class 2A state championship and recognize all of the contributions made by the players, coaches, and families who have impacted their team and school for the better; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the Wildcats and to coaches Matt Darling and Ed Barney as an expression of our esteem and respect for a perfect championship winning season.
