| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Stephen A. "Steve" Pellegrini of | ||||||
| 4 | Springfield, who passed away on March 6, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Steve Pellegrini, the son of Angelo J. and | ||||||
| 6 | Albertine P. (Maton) Pellegrini, was born in Taylorville on | ||||||
| 7 | August 31, 1950; he graduated from Stephen Decatur High | ||||||
| 8 | School; he served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam from 1968 | ||||||
| 9 | to 1972; during his service, he also provided security detail | ||||||
| 10 | in coordination with the Secret Service to protect President | ||||||
| 11 | Richard Nixon; he received his bachelor's degree in political | ||||||
| 12 | science from Eastern Illinois University; he married Beth Ann | ||||||
| 13 | Flener on August 12, 2014; and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Steve Pellegrini worked as a detective with the | ||||||
| 15 | Springfield Police Department for 30 years, retiring in 2010; | ||||||
| 16 | during his law enforcement career, he also served under | ||||||
| 17 | special assignments for the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA); and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Steve Pellegrini was a member of the Police | ||||||
| 19 | Benevolent & Protective Association of Illinois for many | ||||||
| 20 | years; and | ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Steve Pellegrini was an avid fan of the Chicago | ||||||

| 1 | Cubs and the Green Bay Packers; he and his wife enjoyed | ||||||
| 2 | experiencing the outdoors by sitting on their front porch with | ||||||
| 3 | neighbors, traveling in their RV, and wintering in Arizona; | ||||||
| 4 | and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Steve Pellegrini was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 6 | parents; his parents-in-laws, Charles and Barbara Flener; and | ||||||
| 7 | his best friend and four-legged companion, Winston; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Steve Pellegrini is survived by his wife of ten | ||||||
| 9 | years, Beth; his sons, Zack V. Pellegrini and Dalton (fiance, | ||||||
| 10 | Mahalia Davis) Ross; his siblings, Lynne (Ray) Padovan and | ||||||
| 11 | Greg (Deb) Pellegrini; his sister-in-law, Debi (Tim) Marker; | ||||||
| 12 | and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 15 | Stephen A. "Steve" Pellegrini and extend our sincere | ||||||
| 16 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
| 17 | him; and be it further | ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to the family of Steve Pellegrini as an expression | ||||||
| 20 | of our deepest sympathy. | ||||||
