| 1 | AN ACT concerning education. | ||||||
| 2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, | ||||||
| 3 | represented in the General Assembly: | ||||||
| 4 | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections | ||||||
| 5 | 10-20.88 and 34-18.88 as follows: | ||||||
| 6 | (105 ILCS 5/10-20.88 new) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 10-20.88. Selective admissions; standardized testing. | ||||||
| 8 | A school board in a school district with 275,000 students or | ||||||
| 9 | more shall prohibit any school of the district that has | ||||||
| 10 | selective admission requirements from requiring a student in a | ||||||
| 11 | pre-kindergarten program of the district to take a | ||||||
| 12 | standardized test in order to be admitted to that school. | ||||||

| 19 | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon | ||||||
