SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Josephine "Jo" Piktel of North Chicago,
4who passed away on October 15, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Josephine Piktel was born on March 11, 1917 to
6John and Pauline Treven; she was a member of Queen of Peace in
7North Chicago, formerly Mother of God; she was involved in St.
8Mary's KSKJ #79 where she was on many basketball and bowling
9teams with her sisters; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Josephine Piktel was known as "Aunt Jo" by many;
11she cooked for every occasion and she taught anyone who wanted
12to learn how to bake her delicious treats; with her husband,
13she loved to go perch fishing off the south pier at the Great
14Lakes Naval Training Center which resulted in numerous fish
15fries in their back yard; she was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and
16a fan of many other sports that she enjoyed watching all year
17round; she always enjoyed visits from her great and
18great-great-nieces and nephews; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Josephine Piktel was preceded in death by her
20husband, Frank; her parents; her sisters, Rose Terchek, Mary
21Deram, and Pauline Galinis; her brother, John Treven; and her
22nephew, John Deram; and

1    WHEREAS, Josephine Piktel is survived by her nephews, Tom
2(Lynn) Deram, Mike (Noreen) Galinis, Tim (Venetia) Terchek, and
3Fred (Linda) Treven; her niece, Alice (Derry) Mumford; and
4numerous great and great-great-nieces and nephews; therefore,
5be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Josephine "Jo" Piktel, and extend our sincere condolences to
9her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Josephine Piktel as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
