2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Donna L. (nee Bost) Cervini of Oak Park, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on March 25, 2014; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Donna Cervini was born in Pittsburgh, | ||||||
6 | Pennsylvania; she attended Wheeling Jesuit University in | ||||||
7 | Wheeling, West Virginia and worked as an elementary school | ||||||
8 | teacher; she married Lawrence Cervini and they settled in Oak | ||||||
9 | Park in 1967; in 1971, she began attending Northwestern | ||||||
10 | University Law School, graduating in 1975; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Following graduation, Donna Cervini worked for | ||||||
12 | the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation and in | ||||||
13 | private practice; in 1985, she was appointed an Associate Judge | ||||||
14 | of the Circuit Court of Cook County, retiring in 2002; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Donna Cervini devoted much of her time to | ||||||
16 | charitable and community service, including the Pittsburgh | ||||||
17 | Catholic Interracial Counsel, the Oak Park Housing Center, the | ||||||
18 | Oak Park-River Forest Citizens Committee for Human Rights, the | ||||||
19 | St. Giles Family Mass Community, the Lawyers' Assistance | ||||||
20 | Program, which she co-founded and served as chair for 14 years, | ||||||
21 | the Illinois Child Death Review, the American Bar Association | ||||||
22 | Commission for the Impaired Attorney, the Oak Park Police and |

1 | Fire Commission, and International Women Associates of Chicago | ||||||
2 | (2000-2004); she also volunteered with the West Suburban PADS | ||||||
3 | Shelter in Oak Park; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Donna Cervini marched for Civil Rights, | ||||||
5 | participated in the anti-apartheid movement for South Africa, | ||||||
6 | and was a draft counselor against the Vietnam War; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Donna Cervini loved to travel; she was an avid | ||||||
8 | snow skier and scuba diver with hundreds of dives all over the | ||||||
9 | world; and | ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Donna Cervini was the former spouse of the late | ||||||
11 | Lawrence A. Cervini; the loving mother of Cynthia E. Cervini | ||||||
12 | and Christine C. (Joe) Wong; the daughter of the late Mary | ||||||
13 | Ellen (nee McDermott) and the late John William Bost; the | ||||||
14 | sister of Joanne (Steve) Halle, Mary (Mike) Silbaugh, Faith | ||||||
15 | (Alan) Katchmar, Jim (Jackie) Connolly, Carol (Gary) | ||||||
16 | Ostrander, and Nancy Makela; the proud grandmother of Drew, | ||||||
17 | Siena, and Stephen Wong; the aunt of Matthew (Michelle) and | ||||||
18 | Joshua Heckel; the longtime friend of Paul Moroney and his | ||||||
19 | family; and many more; therefore, be it
| ||||||
20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
21 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
22 | Donna L. Cervini, and extend our sincere condolences to her |

1 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
2 | further

3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
