SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gerald F. Tuite, Sr., formerly of
4Rockford, who passed away on December 31, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gerald Tuite, Sr. was born on November 15, 1928 to
6John C. and Mildred (nee Murphy) Tuite; he served his country
7as a combat infantry leader and chief photographer with the
8United States Army in Japan during the Korean War; he attended
9Rockford College and Georgetown University and then
10Chicago-Kent College of Law, graduating with honors and his
11Juris Doctor in 1958; and
 
12    WHEREAS, In 1958, Gerald Tuite, Sr. opened Gerald Tuite &
13Associates in Rockford, specializing in Labor Law, Workers'
14Compensation Law, and Personal Injury Law; he was a frequent
15lecturer on workers' rights and at Bar Association seminars; he
16was a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois Bar
17Association, and the American and Illinois Trial Lawyers
18Associations and he received numerous accolades for his service
19to various organizations; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Gerald Tuite, Sr. was active in Democratic
21politics in the Rockford area; he served as a Precinct
22Committeeman and Vice-Chairman of the Winnebago County

1Democratic Party and was active in many campaigns for local,
2State, and national offices; he also served as an Assistant
3Attorney General for 8 years; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Gerald Tuite, Sr. was a member of the Knights of
5Columbus, the Naples Yacht Club, the Big Foot Country Club, the
6Metropolitan Club, the Phi Delta Phi Law Fraternity, and was a
7charter member of Saint Bridget Catholic Church in Loves Park;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Gerald Tuite, Sr. was preceded in death by his
10parents and by his brother, John Tuite; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Gerald Tuite, Sr. is survived by his beloved wife,
12Francine Williams Tuite; his children, Gregory E. (Mary) Tuite,
13Dr. Gerald F. (Susan) Tuite, Jr., Michael P. (Jennifer) Tuite,
14and Tracy (Paul) Beraud; his 9 grandchildren; and 1
15great-granddaughter; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Gerald F. Tuite, Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to his
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
