SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Barbara Anderson Hudson of Downers Grove,
4who passed away on July 14, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Barbara Hudson was born in 1919 in Chicago to
6Helen Barlow and Walter Sigfreid Anderson; she was raised in
7the Hyde Park neighborhood and attended Hyde Park High School;
8she studied education and drama at Denison University in
9Granville, Ohio, where she was an enthusiastic actress,
10appearing in "Hamlet", among other roles; she receive her
11Bachelor's Degree in 1941 and married her college sweetheart,
12George Raymond "Ray" Hudson; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Barbara Hudson accompanied her husband to
14military bases in San Antonio and Amarillo, Texas, before
15settling in Hinsdale in 1950; during the 1950s and 1960s, she
16was active in Infant Welfare, the Daughters of the American
17Revolution, P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization),
18and many other local groups; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Barbara Hudson was an active political wife; she
20helped her husband found the Taproot political organization and
21was a leading member of the Republican Women's Club and the
22DuPage County Republicans; and

1    WHEREAS, Barbara Hudson enjoyed reading, needle-work,
2cooking, and traveling, including numerous cruises and trips to
3foreign countries; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Barbara Hudson was preceded in death by her
5parents and by her husband; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Barbara Hudson is survived by her children, Susan
7Hudson Fox, Richard Frederick Hudson, and Robert Raymond
8Hudson; her 9 grandchildren; and her 16 great-grandchildren;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Barbara Anderson Hudson, and extend our sincere condolences to
13her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Barbara Hudson as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
