SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of S. John Calise of Jacksonville, who
4passed away on July 19, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Calise was born on May 17, 1957, in Corpus
6Christi, Texas; his parents were Salvatore and Lavada (nee
7Rose) Calise; he married Marla J. Collop on May 26, 1979, in
8Kirksville, Missouri; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Calise graduated from Kirksville Senior High
10in Kirksville, Missouri in 1975; he subsequently earned his
11Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and his Master of
12Science in Hydraulics and Hydrology from Missouri University of
13Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri; and
 
14    WHEREAS, John Calise was a licensed Professional Engineer
15in Illinois, Florida, and Missouri and a diplomate of the
16American Academy of Environmental Engineers; he was employed
17with Camp, Dresser and McKee Consulting Engineers in Florida
18and the West Coast Regional Water Supply Authority in
19Clearwater, Florida for several years; in 1997, he relocated
20his family to Jacksonville, Illinois to serve as principal and
21vice president of Benton and Associates Consulting Engineers,
22where he specialized in municipal water, wastewater, and storm

1water management; and
 
2    WHEREAS, John Calise was a member of the American Council
3of Engineering Companies of Illinois and Missouri, the
4Illinois, Missouri, and National Society of Professional
5Engineers, the American Water Works Association, the Water
6Environment Federation, and the Illinois Rural Water
7Association; and
 
8    WHEREAS, John Calise was a member of the Church of Our
9Saviour in Jacksonville, where he served on the Finance
10Committee; he was also a member of the Jacksonville Rotary
11Club, the Prairieland Council On Aging Board of Directors, the
12Passavant Hospital Board of Directors, the Crimson Pride
13Booster Club, and the Shipwatch Yacht and Tennis Club Homeowner
14Association Phase Board of Directors in Largo, Florida; and
 
15    WHEREAS, John Calise was preceded in death by his parents;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, John Calise is survived by his wife, Marla; his
18daughter, Meghan L. Calise; his son, Andrew J. Calise; his
19grandson, Owen M. Evans; his brother, Christopher (Laura)
20Calise; his nephew, Salvatore Calise; his niece, Sarah Calise;
21his father-in-law, Marvin Collop; his brother-in-law, Don
22(Evelyn) Collop; and his niece, Tonya Collop; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
3family and friends, mourn the passing of S. John Calise; and be
4it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of John Calise as an expression of our
7sympathy.
