HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of C.W.
4"Mike" Jones of Pekin, who passed away on July 13, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, C.W. Jones was born on August 21, 1931 in Pisgah,
6Alabama; his parents were Claude Newton and Hattie (nee Smith)
7Jones; he married Sandra Sue Baker on April 6, 1963 in East
8Peoria; and
 
9    WHEREAS, C.W. Jones served his country as a member of the
10United States Navy during the Korean War from November 10, 1948
11to October 22, 1952; and
 
12    WHEREAS, C.W. Jones worked as a tool and die maker at R.
13Herschel Manufacturing in East Peoria for 19 years; he later
14worked at Hiram Walker in Peoria for 9 years; following the
15closing of both businesses, he changed career paths and began a
16successful career in retail clothing; he worked at Burlington
17Coat Factory in Peoria and later was recruited to work at T.J.
18Maxx in Peoria as the assistant manager; after retiring, he
19worked as a ranger at Quail Meadows Golf Course in East Peoria
20for 14 years; and
 
21    WHEREAS, C.W. Jones enjoyed woodworking and golfing; he

1also enjoyed dancing with his wife and being members of the
2Eureka Dance Club and Caper Dance Club; and
 
3    WHEREAS, C.W. Jones was preceded in death by his parents
4and a half-sister, Paulette Morgan; and
 
5    WHEREAS, C.W. Jones is survived by his wife, Sandra; 2
6sons, Michael (Debra) Jones and Matthew (Sandra) Jones; 2
7daughters, Catherine Jones and Lisa (Bret) Gentry; 4
8grandchildren, Kyle (Lisa) Jones, Robert Lawrence, Benjamin
9Jones, and Emersyn "Emmy" Jones; a sister, Shirley Bowling; a
10half-brother, Danny (Rhonda) Wood; and 2 half-sisters,
11Cassandra Chauncey and Debra Bowers; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of
15C.W. "Mike" Jones; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of C.W. Jones as an expression of our
18sympathy.
