HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate John Grussing,
4Assistant Chief of the Normal Fire Department, on the occasion
5of his retirement after 26 1/2 years of outstanding service;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Chief John Grussing began his career as a Normal
8Firefighter on October 1, 1987; he was promoted to Lieutenant
9in 1998, to Captain and Shift Commander in 2007, and to
10Assistant Chief of Training in 2009; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Chief John Grussing has worked to enhance training
12programs for firefighters in Normal and across the State as an
13instructor for the Illinois State Fire Institute; he organized
14and administered the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System Division 41
15Technical Rescue Team, and he administered the maintenance and
16replacement program for all fire apparatus and ambulances for
17Normal; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Chief John Grussing has been a dedicated member of
19the Illinois Fire Chiefs EMS Advisory Committee and the Boys
20and Girls Club Board and has served as President of the Central
21Illinois Fire Chiefs Association; and

1    WHEREAS, Chief John Grussing received his bachelor's
2degree in Fire Science from Western Illinois University and
3earned membership into the Golden Key International Honour
4Society; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Chief John Grussing has been an asset to the
6Normal Fire Department and has dedicated himself to the
7citizens of his community through his work as a firefighter, a
8shift commander, and as an assistant chief; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we congratulate Chief John Grussing on his retirement,
12recognize his significant professional achievements, and
13express our sincere gratitude for the invaluable contributions
14he has made to the citizens of Normal; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to Chief John Grussing as an expression of our esteem
17and respect.
