HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Gerald F.
4Tuite, Sr., formerly of Rockford, who passed away on December
531, 2013; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Gerald Tuite, Sr. was born on November 15, 1928 to
7John C. and Mildred (nee Murphy) Tuite; he served his country
8as a combat infantry leader and chief photographer with the
9United States Army in Japan during the Korean War; he attended
10Rockford College and Georgetown University and then
11Chicago-Kent College of Law, graduating with honors and his
12Juris Doctor in 1958; and
 
13    WHEREAS, In 1958, Gerald Tuite, Sr. opened Gerald Tuite &
14Associates in Rockford, specializing in Labor Law, Workers'
15Compensation Law, and Personal Injury Law; he was a frequent
16lecturer on workers' rights and at Bar Association seminars; he
17was a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois Bar
18Association, and the American and Illinois Trial Lawyers
19Associations and he received numerous accolades for his service
20to various organizations; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Gerald Tuite, Sr. was active in Democratic
22politics in the Rockford area; he served as a Precinct

1Committeeman and Vice-Chairman of the Winnebago County
2Democratic Party and was active in many campaigns for local,
3State, and national offices; he also served as an Assistant
4Attorney General for 8 years; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gerald Tuite, Sr. was a member of the Knights of
6Columbus, the Naples Yacht Club, the Big Foot Country Club, the
7Metropolitan Club, the Phi Delta Phi Law Fraternity, and was a
8charter member of Saint Bridget Catholic Church in Loves Park;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Gerald Tuite, Sr. was preceded in death by his
11parents and by his brother, John Tuite; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Gerald Tuite, Sr. is survived by his beloved wife,
13Francine Williams Tuite; his children, Gregory E. (Mary) Tuite,
14Dr. Gerald F. (Susan) Tuite, Jr., Michael P. (Jennifer) Tuite,
15and Tracy (Paul) Beraud; his 9 grandchildren; and 1
16great-granddaughter; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19we mourn the passing of Gerald F. Tuite, Sr., and extend our
20sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
21and loved him; and be it further

2presented to Gerald Tuite, Sr. as an expression of our deepest
3sympathy.
